With the aim of providing legal support to early-stage science- and technology-based startups, Alessandri joins the innovation corporation as a collaborator in the Know Hub Ignition program, marking its official entry into the national innovation ecosystem.

In a partnership that marks a milestone in the relationship between the legal world and the national innovation ecosystem, Alessandri Abogados has joined Know Hub Chile as a strategic collaborator.

This collaboration represents an evolution in the way law firms take part in the country’s technological development, contributing their expertise in intellectual property, corporate advice and legal structuring to high-impact science and technology ventures.

Know Hub is a nonprofit corporation that brings together the various players in the innovation ecosystem to turn research results into products or services, that is, into innovation. It was born from public policy that seeks, together with other initiatives, to transform Chile into a knowledge-based economy and society. We have eight partner universities and three research centers or institutes.

Know Hub Ignition is a startup support program, now in its fifth edition, with a call for applications open until May 21. It aims to accelerate the path to market of science- and technology-based startups, connecting them with tools, mentoring and networks that are key to their growth. In this context, the addition of Alessandri Abogados as a partner strengthens the program’s legal component, offering essential support at a critical stage of entrepreneurial development.

“Alessandri’s entry into the innovation ecosystem is an important step that shows how different disciplines can work together to boost technology entrepreneurship in Chile. Alessandri’s expertise, prestige and more than a century of experience in the legal field provide invaluable backing for entrepreneurs. The right legal support from the start of a project can make the difference in its success and sustainability,” says Javier Ramírez, executive director of Know Hub Chile.

“This partnership with Know Hub Chile is a great opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the country’s innovation ecosystem. As a key connector in the science, technology, knowledge and innovation (CTCI) sector, Know Hub Chile accelerates the transformation of knowledge into high-impact solutions. Joining as strategic collaborators strengthens the connection among universities, research centers, startups, industry and the public sector. In this way, we help energize the national ecosystem and boost technology transfer with real, positive effects on Chilean society,” explains Santiago Ortúzar, partner at Alessandri.

Matías Saavedra, PhD in Engineering Sciences at Alessandri, adds that “turning innovation into viable businesses, whether at the corporate level or through entrepreneurship and technology transfer, is a complex, multidimensional process that requires the interaction of several technical areas. The technical capabilities needed to build science- and technology-based businesses are usually scattered across the innovation ecosystem, provided by various isolated players without enough interaction among them. This hinders the flow of information and complicates decision-making. Collaborations like this one create synergies, new spaces and new opportunities.”

With this partnership, Know Hub Chile reaffirms its role as a key connector in the science, technology, knowledge and innovation (CTCI) ecosystem, accelerating the transformation of knowledge into high-impact solutions. As a co-implementer of public policies aimed at making Chile a knowledge society, the corporation drives initiatives that strengthen the connection among universities, research centers, startups, industry and the public sector. The addition of Alessandri Abogados is another example of how the corporation brings in strategic players to energize the national ecosystem and boost technology transfer with real impact on society.
