The conference, driven by Know Hub Chile, will bring together players from the science, technology and innovation ecosystem and the defense sector, with the aim of opening a space for strategic collaboration for the country’s development.

Technology that protects, but also transforms. With this conviction, Know Hub Chile is driving the Dual Hub Summit, the first Latin American gathering dedicated to dual innovation: the innovation that happens when synergy is created between the civilian sector and the defense sector. The event will take place on May 6 and 7 at Universidad del Bío-Bío, in the city of Concepción.

“At Know Hub Chile, we firmly believe that a country’s development is built on trust, knowledge and cooperation between sectors that have often worked separately. That is why we have committed to opening a space that connects technological capabilities, national challenges and multisector collaboration,” says Javier Ramírez, executive director of Know Hub Chile.

SYNERGIES FOR SOLUTIONS CREATED IN CHILE FOR THE WORLD

The Dual Hub Summit aims to be a meeting point for universities, R&D centers, startups, companies, the Armed Forces, public agencies and investors, creating synergies that scale solutions from Chile to the world.

Over two days, the Dual Hub Summit will address strategic questions such as: How do we work together to build a dual future? How does our defense drive regional and national technological and productive development? How do we set out on these paths?

One of the focuses will be the National Continuous Shipbuilding Plan, where the opportunities and challenges it presents for national development will be discussed. A key moment within this focus will be the presentation of the Avante 04 program, developed with the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile), which seeks to contribute to the national shipbuilding process through technological solutions emerging from the CTCI ecosystem.

The event has the backing of CORFO and ANID, and the sponsorship of Lockheed Martin, consolidating a strategic collaboration among public and private, national and international players.

“What is everyday today was once strategic. We want dual innovation to stop being the exception and become a standard practice of collaboration between science, industry and defense,” Ramírez concludes.
