Ignition 06 will select 10 early-stage teams for an eight-week training program aimed at validating their technologies, with the chance to access a fund to carry out new proofs of concept.
Know Hub Chile has opened applications for Ignition 06, the sixth edition of its acceleration program for early-stage science- and technology-based ventures, which since 2019 has worked with teams developing solutions in areas such as biotechnology, clean energy, robotics and nanotechnology.
The initiative is backed by the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) and sponsored by Lockheed Martin, and aims to transfer results from the lab to the market and position science- and technology-based startups with solutions that have social, economic and environmental impact. The call will select 10 teams that will compete for a USD 10,000 fund.
ANID’s head of Transfer and Entrepreneurship, Esteban Zapata, highlighted in a statement the initiative’s contribution to strengthening early-stage projects, saying that it “makes it possible to improve the value proposition and also the relationship between this value proposition and those interested in these science- and technology-based solutions.”
For his part, Know Hub Chile senior manager Alonso Ureta said that “Ignition 06 consolidates our track record in the Chilean innovation ecosystem. Our purpose is to give teams the tools and rigor needed to commercially validate their technologies.”
Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicant projects must be focused on research and development (R&D) and have at least technology readiness level three, meaning the technology has moved beyond theoretical proofs of concept and has initial experimental evidence.
In addition, teams must include both a technical profile with scientific knowledge and a business development profile. The rules allow the company to be legally incorporated during the program.
The training process will last eight weeks and will be based on the Customer Discovery methodology—validating the business idea and defining the target market—to turn technology hypotheses into measurable commercial evidence.
Ureta explained that they want participants to dig deeper into the technical description of the innovation, the identification of market needs, and the definition of intellectual property strategies to protect their patents.
“The training will also guide them step by step through financial sizing, a detailed analysis of the competitive landscape and the consolidation of a sustainable revenue model that ensures the project’s commercial viability,” he added.
The program will end in September 2026 with an in-person Demo Day, where the 10 selected startups will present their progress to a jury that will assess technical quality and hypothesis validation, and will decide how to distribute the USD 10,000 fund, which will be used to carry out new proofs of concept.
Applications will be open until July 21.
