Know Hub Chile’s tour of Colombia included participation in Genera Summit 2025, the second National DeepTech Mission and a strategic agenda of engagement with the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, consolidating the regional reach of dual innovation and opening new opportunities for its partners and startups.

Innovation has no borders, and Know Hub Chile’s recent trip to Colombia confirms it. With a strategic agenda that included participation in Genera Summit 2025, meetings with key ecosystem players and a presence at the 2nd National DeepTech Mission in Bogotá, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to showcasing Chilean innovation on the international stage.

On August 27, as part of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce’s Go Fest, Genera Summit took place: a high-level gathering that has become one of the most important events in Latin America for anticipating technology trends, attracting investment and activating impact agendas. For the second year in a row, Javier Ramírez, executive director of Know Hub Chile, was a featured speaker, presenting a transformative vision of how dual innovation, which connects science, defense and industry, can become an engine of sustainable development and competitiveness for the region.

“Latin America has the talent and the scientific knowledge to play a leading role in innovation with global impact. The key is to build bridges between sectors and countries, and to understand that dual innovation is a way to solve strategic challenges that transcend borders,” said Ramírez.

The tour also included the participation of Óscar Astudillo, Strategic Alliances Manager at Know Hub Chile, in the 2nd National DeepTech Mission, held on August 26 and 27 in Bogotá. The event brought together 50 participants for an exclusive immersion in the Colombian ecosystem, with visits to strategic infrastructure, workshops and panels on DeepTech investment. In this context, Know Hub Chile also took part as an invited observer in the workshops of the Alianza DeepTech Colombia, an initiative that brings together researchers, startups, universities, corporations, agencies and investors, and that seeks to map the ecosystem, publish annual reports, centralize the technology offering, attract investment and generate disruptive innovation.

For Astudillo, the experience “confirms that Colombia and Chile share a complementary vision of science-based innovation. Being here allows us to open collaboration opportunities for our partners and projects, connecting directly with top-level investors, researchers and entrepreneurs.”

Meanwhile, Héctor Cifuentes, New Projects Manager at Know Hub Chile, held meetings with various stakeholders in the Colombian ecosystem, strengthening the collaboration network for future joint initiatives.

Avante 04 finalists

The Know Hub Chile delegation also included the finalist teams from the fourth edition of Desafío Avante (Mine Analytics, the Moderniza Innovation Center and Bosses), who traveled to Colombia as part of a business prospecting tour of international naval markets. This mission seeks to open new opportunities for engagement, collaboration and technology transfer in the maritime and naval sector, establishing Chile as an emerging player in dual innovation. The teams were accompanied by Lieutenant Francisca Lema, Head of Plans at the Chilean Navy’s Technological Innovation Center (CiTA), reflecting the coordination between defense, science and industry that characterizes this innovation model.

Desafío Avante has become a pioneering platform that connects technology ventures with strategic needs in the naval domain, projecting solutions from Chile to the world. The participation of its teams in Colombia marks a new milestone in the program’s internationalization and reinforces its standing as a model that can be replicated in other sectors.

From Chile to Colombia, naval and scientific innovation crosses borders, strengthening alliances, creating opportunities and establishing the region as a hub of dual innovation with global impact.

Through its participation in these forums, Know Hub Chile reaffirms its mission: to drive projects that create change through science and technology, building bridges between countries and ecosystems.

“What we are building is not just a collaboration network; it is a shared vision that Latin America can lead in science-based innovation. And Colombia has been a key partner in that conversation,” Ramírez summed up at the close of the tour.
