On Tuesday, April 11, the second in-person bootcamp of Avante 3 took place. Avante 3 is an open innovation challenge organized by the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile) and Know Hub Chile. This time, the activity was held at Know Hub Chile’s offices.

The bootcamp brought together the four teams selected for the second phase of Avante 3: YO ME CONTROLO, a digital preventive medicine platform that facilitates access to early diagnosis and timely treatment of chronic diseases; MEDBYTE CHILE, a web platform that centralizes information from data capture and structuring processes for Artificial Intelligence analysis to identify patterns and optimize preventive medicine; AMANDA, a platform with a device that allows patients’ vital signs and health parameters to be taken wherever they are; and TELEKER, a geolocated information platform that enables targeted actions and the definition of health policies based on information from forms and medical devices.
Fernando Venegas, technology transfer manager at Know Hub Chile, opened the day with a presentation on the organization’s work with ventures. “For us, entrepreneurship is a fundamental pillar of our innovation strategy, as stated in our mission,” he said.
The teams attended classes and workshops led by experts from Know Hub Chile and the Navy, whose main objective is to add a civilian market focus to the already more developed defense sector. Activities included workshops on the business model and the Avante mission, along with identifying hypotheses and assumptions, plus a class on the importance of hypothesis validation.

What comes next?
The four teams selected for this second phase will receive CLP 2 million to develop their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and will continue their Dual Tech training for seven more weeks. Throughout this process, they will continue to be supported by a team of experts, facilitators and mentors responsible for providing the methodological and practical tools needed to solve this challenge.
Finally, on May 25, the four teams will present again before a panel of experts with representatives from the Chilean Navy, Know Hub Chile and the health innovation ecosystem, who will choose the two winners. They will receive a total of CLP 90 million to implement a six-month work plan to scale the MVP and bring the technology closer to its dual market.
