An initiative supported by the 92-INES project awarded to the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Graduate Studies, together with OTL-UBB, with the participation of researchers, faculty members, graduate students and professionals from various units related to VRIP-UBB.
The Tech-boost program, which began on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, will run over 10 two-hour sessions, with hands-on workshops on innovation and entrepreneurship delivered by the Know Hub Chile professional team to a group of UBB researchers.
This initiative builds on the innovation leveling program carried out in 2021, which brought together more than 50 UBB researchers.
In this context, the Vice-Rector for Research and Graduate Studies at Universidad del Bío-Bío, Dr. Luis Lillo Arroyo, highlighted the importance of the training provided by Know Hub Chile. “Thanks to the 92-INES project awarded by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, we can provide more tools to our faculty, VRIP professionals and graduate students to strengthen the capabilities and internal processes of our vice-rectorate that support research focused on transfer and R&D-based innovation, allowing us to respond to the present and future needs of our University, as well as those of the different players in the region where it is located,” the university official emphasized.
Topics such as customer discovery, market and competitor identification, intellectual property strategies, business models and transfer will be part of the initiative, which seeks to develop advanced capabilities in a group of researchers from Universidad del Bío-Bío in order to spark a cultural transformation at the institution.
Over two months, the researchers will acquire practical tools to evaluate and identify results and to define problems or needs, competitors and potential markets for their technology, as well as to deepen concepts such as value propositions and customer segments. This is in addition to the presentation and negotiation skills they will be trained in.
The four UBB research teams have technologies in the fields of science and technology.
At the opening session, Javier Ramírez, Executive Director of Know Hub Chile, said: “Through Know Hub Building we seek to provide capabilities to researchers and technology managers at our partner institutions, so that we are all on the same page in terms of knowledge and experience. By developing our partners’ capabilities, we also build a larger portfolio of technologies that we will seek to transfer to society and the market.”
Jocelyn Correa, an engineer at the Technology Transfer and Licensing Office (OTL UBB), said that “this program seeks to strengthen our research team; our institutional goal is to boost it with tools we do not have and that Know Hub can provide us”
