The Directorate of Programs, Research and Development (Diprida) of the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile) presented the National Continuous Shipbuilding Plan and the challenges in developing national defense systems at Dual Hub Summit 2025, thereby promoting innovation and collaboration with startups, universities, defense companies, investors and players in the R&D&I ecosystem.

Organized by Know Hub Chile and held on May 6 and 7 at Universidad del Biobío, the event aimed to consolidate a space for connecting science, defense, industry and government to activate dual innovation in Chile, driving technologies that respond to the country’s strategic challenges and generate public value, productive development and technological capabilities with national and international impact.

According to Diprida, in the session devoted to the Productive and Territorial Challenges of the Naval Sector at Dual Hub Summit 2025, the head of Diprida’s Shipbuilding Department, Captain Enzo Tesser, presented the Chilean Navy’s vision for the National Continuous Shipbuilding Plan to the dual innovation ecosystem.

Likewise, Diprida’s deputy director, Captain Óscar García, presented the progress and future challenges in developing national defense sector systems, key players in the success of the National Continuous Shipbuilding Plan.

Energy security

At Dual Hub Summit 2025, Diprida also presented its energy security program, which is responsible for assessing a potential institutional energy transition toward domestically produced fuels.

The program head, Lieutenant Rodolfo Martinez Benavente, presented the latest progress, including the proposed roadmap for the maritime energy transition to 2050, along with the co-creation of the concept of maritime energy autonomy, and the proposal to establish a green hydrogen technology development and interinstitutional coordination center for the maritime industry.

He also referred to the prefeasibility study and business case for using carbon-neutral fuels (DME, MeOH and e-Diesel) in a general service launch (LSG), key to adapting current technologies and enabling a successful energy transition in the naval sphere.
