To the editor:
How important is a Technology and Knowledge Transfer Law for Chile? If the country is to become a knowledge-based society, passing this law is increasingly imperative.

First, this bill is expected to foster collaboration between universities, research centers and companies, which can drive innovation and technological development in the country. It is also intended to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technologies from academia to the productive sector, which will undoubtedly contribute to economic growth and to the competitiveness of Chilean science- and technology-based ventures.

It can also help protect intellectual property and establish clear mechanisms for commercializing technologies developed in the country. In short, a technology transfer law is essential to harness Chile’s innovative potential and turn it into an engine of sustainable development and global competitiveness. The country will thus have a clear and favorable course toward a knowledge-based society and economy.
