Know Hub Chile launched the third edition of the Know Hub Ignition program on Thursday, April 19, 2023. This initiative, run in collaboration with the University of California, Riverside, focuses on the value proposition and customer segment of science- and technology-based ventures, accelerating their early and global growth.

Know Hub Ignition contributes to the training and maturing of science- and technology-based ventures, engaging the entire national and international innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The program has the support of ANID, the backing of Corfo and the sponsorship of Lockheed Martin and CircularTec.

The program’s launch event was attended by the Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Aisén Etcheverry. Also in attendance were former Minister of Science Andrés Couve, professionals from ANID, INAPI, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agency for Sustainability and Climate Change, and representatives of the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile), the Academia Politécnica Naval and the Chilean Air Force (Fuerza Aérea de Chile).

The event was a significant moment for the national innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It was also attended by representatives of various venture capital firms, entrepreneurs, winning teams from previous editions of Know Hub Ignition and representatives of Know Hub Chile’s partner universities.

Third edition

After two successful calls in 2019 and 2020, the program returns in 2023 for its third edition with two categories: the first open to all kinds of science and technology ventures, and the second focused on three important issues for today’s society: cybersecurity, circular economy in agribusiness, and climate change.

The cybersecurity focus, sponsored by Lockheed Martin, seeks strategic technology solutions and/or preventive operational work models that make it possible to cover vulnerabilities and carry out mitigations to address them. Solutions may relate to protection, research, threat analysis or threat sharing, or generate cybersecurity innovations for small, medium and large companies.

The circular economy in agribusiness focus, sponsored by CircularTec, seeks technology solutions and/or developments that keep resources in use for as long as possible, reduce waste, minimize the environmental footprint, enable efficient use of resources (water use and renewable energy sources), and produce organic fertilizers, products and by-products from waste.
