Know Hub adds new members to its Board of Directors, elected at the last members’ assembly, who bring new strengths and extensive experience to the growth and soundness the organization needs for its new challenges.

At Know Hub’s last members’ assembly, its new board was elected, made up of nine people: six from member institutions and three independent directors.

The new board includes those who were re-elected to their positions, among them Dr. Germán Rehren, Director of the Department of Development and Innovation at the Universidad Austral de Chile; Dr. Carlos Lüders, Vice Rector for Research and Graduate Studies at the Universidad Católica de Temuco; and Carlos Saffie, Director of Innovation at the Universidad de Chile. Dr. María Teresa Muñoz Quezada, Vice Rector for Research and Graduate Studies at the Universidad Católica del Maule, also remains on the board.

Joining the Board are Giovanna Muñoz, Executive Director of the Centro de Estudios de Alimentos Procesados (CEAP), and Dr. Ariela Vergara, Vice Rector for Innovation at the Universidad de Talca. We thank them both in advance for their willingness to help strengthen the organization.

Independent directors

In this new board election, Carolina Arce, co-founder of U-planner, and Patricia Sabag Zarruk, director of Hortifrut and Canontex, were re-elected as independent directors, along with Jorge Karadima, co-founder of Andean Agriculture Group and founder of Colchester Investment Ltda.

The board also ratified as alternate independent directors Sofía Ramírez, Venture Partner at AgFunder; Macarena Renard, Managing Partner at IntegritasGC and Engagement Manager; and Paulo Rosales, Managing Partner at Go PlanBe..

Acknowledgments

Know Hub thanks the members of the previous board for their valuable contribution: Paola Ballerino, Director of Innovation and Technology Transfer at the Universidad de Los Lagos, and Michel Leporati Nerón, former Director of Innovation and Transfer at the Universidad de Talca.

We also highlight the work and commitment of those who served as alternate directors, Sandra Ríos Nuñez, Director of Research at the Vice Rector’s Office of the Universidad de Los Lagos, and Marcos Yáñez González, of the Universidad de Talca.

We also recognize the important work of the alternate directors on the previous board of independents, Susana Oviedo, IT Manager at CanonTex, and Andrés Zahler, currently Senior Advisor on Innovation and Productive Transformation at the Ministry of Economy.

Javier Ramírez, Executive Director of Know Hub Chile, notes that the organization’s performance and future challenges are deeply enriched by the diverse representation and expertise of its members, who help shape a productive and successful stage. “My most sincere thanks to the members of the new board and to the outgoing directors from our member institutions; their work was fundamental for our organization and for laying the foundations that will allow us to make an impact on the R&D&I ecosystem and at the national level”, he concludes.

What sets the work of the Know Hub Board apart?

Helping Chile become a knowledge-based economy and society, which is the goal of the State policy that gave rise to Know Hub, requires turning scientific research results into products and services available on the market for the benefit of society.

Achieving this requires not only a clear strategic vision, but also ongoing collaboration, diverse perspectives on the task and the best professionals, committed to contributing to the development of Chile and its people.

That is why the Know Hub Board is not limited to a supervisory role; it contributes a diversity of perspectives and experiences and, through collaborative and horizontal work, helps achieve the ultimate goals of the public policy that created this organization, such as helping to increase investment in R&D and contributing to national development by diversifying the country’s productive matrix on a scientific and technological basis.

On a path of constant challenges and demanding, unforeseen changes of course, the compass of cooperative, participatory work, built on constant listening and mutual respect, strengthens Know Hub. In this way, each step the organization takes helps ensure that its impact reaches not only the R&D&I ecosystem but the entire country.
