Behind the Desafío Avante lies a methodology born from joint work between the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile) and Know Hub, drawing on national and international experiences.

Tomorrow, as part of the Innovapolinav Public Innovation Meeting organized by the Naval Polytechnic Academy, Desafío Avante 3 will be launched. This is the third edition of an open innovation program that invites entrepreneurs, researchers, and undergraduate and graduate students to present technological solutions to problems identified by the Navy.

The idea is to connect the institution with the innovation ecosystem, especially with science- and technology-based startups, which may become sophisticated suppliers to the defense sector and the civilian market.

As Rear Admiral Fernando Le Dantec, the Navy’s director of Programs, Research and Development, explains, this time they will focus on the “management of large volumes of data for decision-making. This topic was chosen because of its cross-cutting impact on the Navy, since data analysis models have applications in fields as different as shipbuilding and personnel health. We are analyzing the possibility of changing the data management model to a service-oriented architecture, where it is feasible to have software tools that provide flexibility and agility and that do not necessarily come from the same manufacturer, as self-contained systems do. This will allow the different players within the institution to develop new tools for greater effectiveness and efficiency in each of their areas of management.”
